Overview

TimeKeeper is a web-based time tracking application designed to provide accurate, project-level work tracking with integrated break management and automated weekly summaries. Built to support consultants and project-based professionals, it improves billing accuracy, increases time visibility, and reduces manual reporting effort.

Core Use Cases

UC1 — Start Session (Clock In)

Actor: User

Goal: Begin tracking time for a selected project.

Preconditions: User is on dashboard and project exists.

Main Flow:

User selects a project.
User clicks Clock In.
System records start timestamp.
Timer becomes active and session is stored.

Success Outcome: Active session is running and saved.

UC2 — Pause for Break

Actor: User

Goal: Record break time during an active session.

Preconditions: User is clocked in; session is active.

Main Flow:

User clicks Start Break.
System timestamps break start and marks session “On Break.”.
User clicks End Break.
System timestamps break end and adds duration to break total.

Success Outcome: Break time is stored and deducted from session totals.

UC3 — End Session (Clock Out)

Actor: User

Goal: Complete the time entry and store accurate totals.

Preconditions: User is clocked in; session is active.

Main Flow:

User clicks Clock Out.
System timestamps end time.
System calculates total duration and subtracts break time.
System saves session under the selected project.

Success Outcome: Session is closed and totals are stored.

UC4 — View Weekly Summary

View weekly totals for billing and planning.

User selects a week or date range.
System aggregates hours by project and day.
UI displays totals and breakdown.

Success Outcome: User has a clear weekly summary ready for invoicing.

UC5 — View Time History

Review and filter past sessions for accuracy.

Open “History”.
Filter by project/date.
Verify totals and entries.

Success Outcome: User can validate work logs and ensure accuracy.

The Client Portal is a secure web-based workspace designed to provide real-time project visibility, document access, billing transparency, and structured collaboration between consultant and client. It centralizes communication and reduces status-meeting friction.
